Ian Gentil Maui super-grom

Pre-teen and mean

Following a surf with Ian in two-foot Californian burgers, Andy Irons was very impressed. “The thirteen year old Maui grom, he’s the best kid I have seen at that age for sure,” he said. Watching this footage, it’s hard to disagree.

the reason why Brazilians travel in large, sometimes annoying, groups is because it gets cheaper that way, the larger the group, the cheaper it gets... and since Australian lineups are already superfuckingovercrowded, it's easy to figure out why the conflict is occurring

Ian is actually one of the most humble, soft spoken, mellow groms you will ever meet in the lineup or on land.

that kid rips. brazilian genes + maui as a backyard looks like a nice mix hah
hei Captain, it's sad to read that man, that brazilians are messing up in Australia.. you see, this whole xenophobia thing is fucked because one cannot generalize things. u see i live in south brazil, which is kind of wealthier then the rest, and indeed there are a lot of asshole retards around here, but there's also a bunch of amazing pals out here, and it is the same in every fuckng place in the world. i have met cool aussies and disrespectful ones tough i'll not judge a whole country's population because of that.

you sure have a point captain sad, it wouldn't surprise me if he makes his career running for Hawaii... when I said poorly educated i meant exactly that, people who don't have any manners or respect for others, people who think they own everything, but again, no generalizations, I bet there are people like that in Australia too, sure we've got our issues here, and they are many, as the one you pointed out, but there is a difference between hardworking imigrants and spoiled ignorants, who should be taught, and the way I see it, Australian surfers tend to give all Brazilians the same treatment, or should I say, hatred?

Sadly for this grom he may find that over amped brazilians making the BRAZILIAN! claim may just make him a little less marketable due to their current PR status in world surfing. Its up to the travelling packs to change their ways if they want to be more readily accepted in the surfing world. Sometimes its hard not to hate them after ya have a surf with them here in Australia. I have surfed in Brazil and the guys that were out were cool but they were from a poorer background, they could never afford to come to Australia, I think a lot of the ones that come here have the arrogance and ignorance that comes from being bought up in a country with a clearly defined class system, that is you are either completely poverty stricken or you are not. Brazil is a tough place.

I agree there are a lot of poorly educated over amped Brazilians, specially in Australia, and that they make quite a job spreading a negative image, but what I generally see, specially in Australian surfing press, is a generalization and a kind of hatred directed towards surfers coming from Brazil, no matter how talented they are and how good they surf, and that is xenophoby

"Makes the modern collective look like a team of mal riders."

fixsurfboard.com. That is a very stupid statement.. why leave silly comments like that to every story posted here just to promote your own site?

the things about stuff are raelly determined but in hind sight stuff is as equal or better than things... but that all depends on weather the stuff is happening to you, youe mates or the things are adverselly affecting your environmrnt.
things and stuff have been in close contention over the other things for quite some time.
what we need now is aq concierted effort to moniter the ourtcomes of stuff and things concertiadly
amen

that if he gets really good he might just dominate surfing for the good part of 20 years then come up with some ideas to make the sport more interesting then idiots on here can write him off for having a big ego, taking glory away from younger guys and biting the hand that feeds. So much to look forawrd to.
